National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited was set up in November 1960. It is fully owned undertaking of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited received the Public Sector Undertaking Status in October 2008 and has been awarded the Mini Ratna status in September 2012.
The corporation has its headquarters in New Delhi along with ten zonal offices situated in different states. Mostly known as NBCC has received ISO 9001:2008 certification for the excellence it has shown in the Project Management and consultancy. Listed on Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange both since April 2012, the company had reported order book of Rs. 8162.21 crore at the end of the financial year 2011-12.
The corporation encompasses the business of civil infrastructure for power sector, real estate development, post completion maintenance works, roads, bridges and office buildings along with its major function of project management and consultancy.
The projects undertaken by NBCC are not just limited to India, rather spread in foreign nations, as well. In India, few of the crucial projects undertaken by NBCC include construction of hospitals for ESIC in different parts of the nation, projects of solid waste management in 8 towns, 30 km long 270 cusec raw water pipeline project from Sonia Vihar, New Delhi to Muradnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
